Robert Ivy Is Committed To Making American Institute Of Architects Relevant And Valuable

Robert Ivy is a licensed architect, former editor of a prominent magazine, and a talented executive. He serves as the head of American Institute of Architects (AIA), which currently has more than 87,890 members. He is currently leading the AIA’s members on an ambitious project of enhancing the value and significance of AIA. Ivy holds the CEO and executive VP posts at AIA. He became the CEO of this high-profile institution back in 2011.

Education and career

Robert Ivy completed his university education at Sewanee: The University of the South and received his arts degree. He furthered his academic qualifications by completing a master’s course in Architecture at the globally recognized Tulane University.

According to huffingtonpost.com, between 1981 and 1996, Dean/Dale, Dean & Ivy enjoyed the impeccable services of Robert Ivy, who served in the capacity of a principal. He also served as a critic to numerous critically acclaimed publications. In 1996, the Architectural Record named Ivy as its Editor in Chief. He used his exceptional editing and leadership abilities to transform Architectural Record into a reputable and highly sought after architectural journal. Later on, McGraw-Hill Construction Media hired Ivy to act as its editorial director and VP. At this leading media firm, he was responsible for all aspects of editing of widely read magazines like SNAP, HQ Magazine, Sweets, Architectural Record: China, and The Magazine of Sustainable Development.

Winning of prestigious awards

With Ivy as the editorial manager, Architectural Record received many publishing industry recognitions, ranging from the highly coveted magazine journalism accolade to the National Magazine Award in the category of General Excellence. It also pocketed 26 Jesse H. Neal Awards, the 2008 MPA Digital Accolade in the Website of the Year category, and 7 Ozzies: Folio Design Awards.

Back in 2009, Robert Ivy bagged the Crain Award, the highest honor issued to an individual by the American Business Media. Ivy is also a recipient of the McGraw Hill Award for excelling in management. Alpha Rho Chi supported Avi to clinch the Master Architect post by voting for him unanimously. He won the support of this national architecture fraternity due to his excellent abilities in communicating the relevance of the design.
